Beaches – East York Election Results

Well the results are in and Beaches-East York incumbent Liberal Maria Minna, who was first elected in 1993, was defeated by New Democrat and newcomer Matthew Kellway.

Federally, Stephen Harper’s conservatives win a majority government, Ignatieff loses his election seat and quits as Liberal leader, Duceppe lost in his riding and steps down from BQ and Jack Layton celebrates as he becomes the official opposition leader, “Spring is here, my friends, and a new chapter begins.” said Layton after his party easily push past the Liberals in Monday’s federal election – the first time in history the New Democrats have become Official Opposition.
